Community description

The Access2EIC -Seal of Excellence community aims at gathering high potential European companies that received from the European Commission a “Seal of Excellence” certificate and European equity investors. It takes the cue from the successful experience run under the Access4SMEs project.

The Seal of Excellence label means that the companies have been successful in a highly competitive evaluation process by independent experts in the context of the SME Instrument / EIC Accelerator. The Seal of Excellence certification demonstrates the high quality and business potential of SMEs’ projects. It allows these projects to have more credibility and visibility towards potential investors.

Support services

This support action is implemented by Bpifrance and other H2020 National Contact Points under the Access2EIC project - a coordination and support action directed at National Contact Points in the domains of EIC Pathfinder and Accelerator and access to risk finance of Horizon2020 and HorizonEurope.

Overall Access2EIC aims at:

Helping simplify access to EIC Pilot calls, and lowering the entry barriers for newcomers
Fostering the cross-border access to risk finance for specific high potential businesses actors participating or emerging from EIC calls

European Innovation Council - Transition beneficiaries

EIC Transition projects address both technology and market/business development, possibly including iterative learning processes based on early customer or user feedback. EIC Transition project are a technology that is demonstrated to be effective for its intended application (TRL 5/6) and a business model, its initial validation and a business plan for its development to market.

European Innovation Council - Pathfinder beneficiaries

Pathfinder projects are ambitious, novel science-towards-technology companies. Pathfinder technologies are results of high risk / high gain research approaches and are technology concepts that challenge current paradigms. Participating SMEs share a radical vision and have the potential to create the foundations of new markets and to disrupt existing ones.

Seal of Excellence

The Seal of Excellence is a quality label awarded to project proposals submitted to Horizon 2020 which succeeded a highly competitive evaluation process by independent experts, but did not receive funding due to budget limits. This quality label is a guarantee for investors to find high standard project proposals from European SMEs with growth potential.
